Catalyst would like to congratulate the Koha team on the release of Koha 17.05 on Thursday 1 June. This is a major release which brings some thrilling new features and enhancements.
Koha 17.05 includes the revamped and highly anticipated Hea v2. Hea displays Koha usage statistics, pulled from our many libraries around the world. Hea v2 has a global map of all libraries, currently looking a little sparse but will look awesome once more libraries begin sharing their information. Each library also has their own map with their individual branches. These maps will give a great indication of the geographical diversity of Koha users.
Another notable feature that has us very excited is one that hits close to home. Alex Buckley, one of our brilliant interns over the summer who has stayed on with the Koha team as a Junior Developer, developed an amazing onboarding tool for fresh installs. Thanks to Alex, upon installing Koha and the database, the user is taken through a simple process to help them get set up with all the important stuff, such as a first user and library. The onboarding tool and the installer’s slick new appearance means getting started with Koha is a breeze.
You can read more about the 500-or-so additions, enhancements and bug fixes on the Koha Community website.
