Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) provides health and disability services to over 500,000 people living in New Zealand’s local authorities of Auckland, Waikato and Hauraki District. Ko Awatea is the innovation hub within CMDHB.

Ko Awatea wanted to develop one high-quality, low cost learning platform that could be used by all District Health Boards (DHBs). We delivered LEARN, using the Totara LMS system. LEARN allows DHBs to work together, creating a national e-learning network. It's estimated this has saved more than 300 hours of work and $15,000 so far.

Built on Totara LMS, LEARN provides the DHBs with a support and development model which facilitates constant development and skill building.

LEARN is now used by 11 DHBs, and is one of the largest learning platforms in New Zealand. The collaborative system saves the DHBs money and time, and allows great content to be shared, not duplicated. LEARN is a smarter choice for New Zealand healthcare.
