Learning and personal development systems provides support for people and organisations who are seeking to take a more structured approach to managing individual progress, and also enable the delivery and oversight of training.
Catalyst provides three main learning and development solutions:
- Totara, an open source platform delivering corporate and public sector L&D requirements
- Moodle, the popular open source online training and course management system
- Mahara, the leading open source ePortfolio product
Totara LMS is a custom version of Moodle. Totara LMS targets the corporate and public sectors by providing a powerful set of features that allow large organisations to manage their workplace training and development.
Users of Totara LMS enjoy the freedoms of open source, combined with the surety of enterprise grade support. Catalyst has a global base of Totara LMS clients, all requiring exceptional support.
Catalyst are the experts in scaling, modifying, integrating and supporting Totara LMS.
Moodle is a learning platform designed to provide educators, administrators and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalised learning environments. Moodle has vast numbers of users in all sectors: public, corporate and education.
Catalyst has built a global reputation for scaling, modifying, integrating and supporting Moodle. We have clients in New Zealand, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, North America, Asia and Australia.
Our team is part of the development effort behind Moodle. We know all about upcoming features and can extensively customise and enhance Moodle. We were release managers way back for the 1.4.3 and 1.4.4 releases, and have contributed key features since then. You will find us involved in open discussion with Martin Dougiamas and many other developers, designing and debugging the next version of Moodle.
Mahara is the leading open source ePortfolio product, originally developed here at Catalyst. We can help you deploy Mahara on a large scale and provide effective integration with eLearning platforms, student management and identity management systems.
Mahara is an open source electronic portfolio, blogging and social networking tool that enables users to demonstrate their lifelong learning, skills and development over time to selected audiences.
It provides users with a blogging tool, file repository, résumé builder and an innovative views framework that allows users to lay out their portfolio using a drag-and-drop interface. Users can collaborate with each other in groups, all in a safe environment that they control.
Mahara means 'to think' or 'thought' in te Reo Māori.
If Moodle is the structured, learning management side of online education, Mahara is the social, friendly side.
Mahara is provided freely as open source software from www.mahara.org, where a thriving community of volunteers and users assists Mahara's development.
