Moodle is the popular open source online training and course management system. Moodle has vast numbers of users in all sectors: public, corporate and education.
Catalyst has built a global reputation for scaling, modifying, integrating and supporting Moodle. We have clients in New Zealand, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, North America, Asia and Australia.
Totara LMS is a version of Moodle developed by Catalyst, in conjunction with Kineo UK and Pacific, that targets the corporate and public sectors by providing a workplace training management instance of Moodle. More details about Totara can be found at www.totaralms.com
Our team is part of the development effort behind Moodle with an understanding of upcoming features and the ability to customise and enhance Moodle to the max. We were release managers way back for the 1.4.3 and 1.4.4 releases, and have contributed key features since then. You will find us involved in open discussion with Martin Dougiamas and many other developers, designing and debugging the next version of Moodle.
As recognised by TEC, 'code mobility' via open source communities holds great promise for an economically sustainable ICT investment pathway for New Zealand education. Early on in the planning stage of the New Zealand Virtual Learning Environment project we recognised the need for a development team with a track record of delivering complex Internet based applications using open source technology. Note only that, but we needed a team with a culture of collaboration and focused on delivering value. That's a pretty hard ask – so we feel very lucky that we've got Catalyst on board – they're brilliant to work with and they’re helping us take open source in education to a new level.
