MyPortfolio provides a personal learning environment to record and showcase evidence of achievement, manage development plans, set goals, and create online learning communities. It is based on the open source project Mahara originally developed by Catalyst.
MyPortfolio brings together the benefits of leading educational technology and social software in a safe, education-focused environment.
The service exists for schools and tertiary institutions in New Zealand allowing students and staff to build their ePortfolios outside of a learning management system and also use MyPortfolio as a community network.
MyPortfolio showcases Catalyst's professionally managed hosting, which supports 'cloud' based services such as this.
MyPortfolio.school.nz is a national ePortfolio service for New Zealand schools offered by the Ministry of Education. Approximately 1,200 schools are already registered and use it with students and staff for various ePortfolio reasons including showcasing student work, documenting learning development over time, assessing student work, teacher appraisal and lately also for moderation purposes.
