The Hauraki District Libraries replaced their library management system with the open source Koha LMS in 2010. Automation of many of the background jobs that make the library tick provided great efficiencies for staff over their existing rather repetitive and manual workflows.
Koha allowed them to provide a much better service to the community via a vastly improved catalogue and website. The new website offers full account functionality for library members, where you can check the items you have on loan, renew them, and reserve items that you would like to borrow in the future. The enhanced catalogue provides book jacket images, reviews from Amazon, and even lets you add your own reviews as well!
